Mark Douglas

Mark Douglas was selected to serve this past year as the first Center for Law and Health Research Fellow for the IU Consortium. During his time at the IU-Indy law school Mark has devoted his research to health reform initiatives occurring at the state and federal level. The focus of his Fellowship has centered on specific health reform efforts that are now occurring as part of the Indiana University Health Care Reform Study Group which is making policy recommendations to the state about reforming the current health care delivery system.

Previously, Mark has worked in multiple health care environments as a nurse and nurse practitioner. Mark worked in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Clarian's University Hospital and also worked as a nurse practitioner for Gennesaret Free Clinic, serving as Director for the state's first Health Recovery Program while also providing primary health services as a Wishard Advantage provider. Mark focused his graduate studies on low-income populations and his work as a nurse practitioner focused exclusively on the uninsured and underinsured. Mark has worked with the city of Indianapolis and at the national level to institute health and housing initiatives that focus on the special needs and obstacles faced by those who are homeless. Mark will be graduating this May and will joining the law firm of Hall, Render, Killian, Heath, and Lyman.
